Do something nice for someone else, that if you were being just a little more selfish you wouldn't want to do. This does not include things you would do anyway, 'cause that's not really doing something nice for someone else.
My "today is a Wednesday so I'm being nice" act is:
I sent my SO to play softball with friends, without me, while I stayed home with the sick baby.
He's happy. I'm wrangling a sick baby and a little lonely, but I think the world is a better place (even just slightly).

Re: Today's Act of Goodwill
Wed, April 13, 2005 - 4:49 PMBesides the daily act of taking care of the Padre all day, I'm going to go take care of my injured honey tonight and tomorrow night. Now, I'd be doing that for him at any rate, but I'm going to clean house while I'm there, and get some stuff done for the kids as well, make things easier for him to get around.
Cleaning. Bleargh. I'll be taking extra pain pills for it, but rather that than have him moving around with his broken ribs or tripping on stuff since he and the kids have left their living room a mess... (I'd been wanting an excuse to clean anyway).

... is actually this weekend's act of goodwill, which is spending both days getting the data together for the boss sans pay. OK, maybe more Paying a Karmic Debt than goodwill, but there ya go.

Re: Today's Act of Goodwill
Sun, April 24, 2005 - 6:23 PMMy act of goodwill came last week. I work in a family law office and I was able to help someone get through an emotional situation. Just a little pep talk kind of thing, but it worked.

Re: Today's Act of Goodwill
Thu, February 23, 2006 - 1:42 PMI like it.
For me, I did a freebie project with our loal land trust. We're on coastal Maine, which has become a front line of conservation and preservation of open spaces. We're trying to raise money to buy part of a mountain in my town so as to put it into a conservation trust. I'm afraid I don't know anyone with $25K or $50K to donate to the cause, but I can design, layout, and prepare for printing a nice brochure and pledge card so we can solicit possible donors in the area. The land trust took me up on the offer and we've got it at the printers now.

Re: Today's Act of Goodwill
Fri, August 11, 2006 - 2:55 AMFor the past 7 years i have volunteered as a victims advocate with my local police departments in cases of domestic violence. The old adage of think globally, act locally works for me.
